Clerical errors discovered at the time of registration, burial or cremation should be corrected free of charge.
Corrections and amendments to civil registry records may be made by the registrar free of charge when they involve errors, omissions, or the addition of uncontested information. These procedures are regulated by the Regulation for Rectification, Complementation, Ratification, Replacement, Cancellation, and Transfer of Civil Registry Records through Administrative Procedures. Amendments can be carried out before the Regional Directors of the Civic Registry, professionals in administrative procedures and legal control of departmental offices, public officials expressly authorized by the Director of SERECI, or authorized professionals from the Consular Registries and Naturalizations Unit of the National Directorate of SERECI.
